Celebrate the Day of the Dead and the monarch migration experience
Join TLC as we celebrate Day of the Dead!
Celebrate the Day of the Dead (Dia de Muertos) on Sunday, Nov. 1 in a free, outdoor socially distanced event hosted by The Land Conservancy of McHenry County at Gateway Park in Harvard from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Activities include a monarch migration experience, an ofrenda and plenty of space to spend time with family while playing games, picnicking, listening to music and dancing. In some parts of Mexico, monarch butterflies represent the souls of loved ones returning to visit on Day of the Dead, which coincides with the arrival of the monarch butterfly to their wintering site in Mexico.
This is a free event and no registration is required. TLC asks that all guests bring a mask and observe social distancing protocols at this outdoor event.
Gateway is an 18-acre park outside of Harvard at the intersection of Route 23 and Heritage Ln. Parking is available on Heritage Ln.
Date: Nov. 1, 1-4:00 p.m.
Location: Gateway Park,
Fee: Free, no registration required
