Conservation Properties for Sale
Are you looking for a home in nature? Your own, private conservation area?
From time to time, properties with conservation easements, and/or unique natural features, come up for sale in McHenry County. In the interest of facilitating their sale to conservation-minded individuals, TLC offers a listing of some of the properties that are currently on the market.
Each listing includes a link to the MLS listing or property-owner's website. TLC is not a real estate company, and it does not participate in the transactions related to these property sales. The information is provided as a convenience only. Please follow the links provided if you are interested in learning more about a property.

TLC is partnering with Openlands on an innovative project to protect land within the Hackmatack National Wildlife Refuge. As part of a larger acquisition, Openlands now has available a small number of residential lots in a conservation-oriented subdivision, called Twin Creeks, within the Refuge boundaries. Streets and utilities were installed in this subdivision prior to the recession.
Open space within the subdivision will be protected by a conservation easement to be held by the McHenry County Conservation District to ensure that it will remain undeveloped in perpetuity. Lot prices start at $40,000 for lots 2-7 acres in size.
Through this partnership five hundred dollars from every lot sale will be donated to TLC if you mention that you were referred by us.
This list is by no means complete, and the information may be out of date as sale prices will often change monthly. Please contact TLC if you notice any errors or omissions in the information provided.
