Announcements for the Night Owl ride
Remember: Safety First!
- Helmets are mandatory
- Lights and reflectors are mandatory
- Review the route before you start the ride.
- Obey all traffic laws. (Officers may issue citations.)
- Carry an ID and cell phone.
- Bike must be in good condition.
- Do not ride more than two abreast.
- Please bring a reusable water bottle.
The rest stop is located at Woodscreek Park. Water, restrooms and snacks will be available here.
The ride ends back at Crystal Lake City Hall. All riders should be off the road by 2:00 a.m. To celebrate, indulge in some delicious donuts and coffee supplied by Country Donuts! You deserve it!

Get your bike, helmet, light and water bottles ready for this fun nighttime event! The Night Owl is back in 2019, on Saturday, Aug. 3 at 10:00 p.m.
The Night Owl is a 22-mile ride on the streets and trails of Crystal Lake! A shorter (16-mile) route will be available as well.
Proceeds from the Night Owl ride will benefit land preservation in McHenry County through The Land Conservancy of McHenry County. The ride also promotes bicycling as an alternate means of transportation and exercise within the City of Crystal Lake.
When: Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019 at 10:00 p.m.
Where: Crystal Lake City Hall, 100 W. Woodstock St. Crystal Lake, IL
Cost: $15 (adults and children) until Aug. 1, $20 onsite at the ride

Pre registration for the Night Owl is now closed.
Aug. 1 was the last day to register online.
After Aug 1, riders can register onsite at the ride for $20 per person starting at 8:30 p.m.
The Night Owl ride is limited to 500 riders, so sign up early! Any rider 18 years and under must be accompanied by an adult throughout the ride. The safety of Night Owl participants is of primary importance. The route is on public streets and must be shared with motor vehicles during evening hours. We require all riders to wear helmets, have lights on your bicycle and ride no more then two abreast. The Crystal Lake Police Department also reminds us to obey all traffic laws. This is not a race, but a ride! The Crystal Lake Police Department bike patrol will ride along with us to ensure a safe and fun ride for all participants.
There are no refunds for the Night Owl ride.
