Woodstock, IL - The Land Conservancy of McHenry County is pleased to announce the addition of Nancy Deborah Wicker of rural Harvard to the Board of Directors. Nancy is a life-long conservationist who is concerned about the future of the remaining open space and farmland in McHenry County. That is why, in 2003, Wicker donated an easement on 10 acres of her 15 acre property near Harvard, to ensure that the restoration work she has undertaken there will be maintained in perpetuity. Wicker is a sculptor, now working on a statue of her great-grandfather, Charles G. Wicker, donor of Wicker Park and designer of that neighborhood in Chicago. She is the widow of a career diplomat, and has lived in many places around the world, including Israel, India, and Finland. Wicker lives in rural Harvard with 5 rescue animals, including two horses. In addition to her involvement with the Land Conservancy, Wicker is active with the HArts program (Harvard artists working in the local schools), and Mainstay in Richmond (therapeutic riding for handicapped children). Wicker is the Democratic Precinct Committeeperson for Alden 1, and is active in the McHenry County Democratic party.
