[email protected]: Scott and Kim Brix
Meet the Brix family! They have lived on their 5.89-acre property in Marengo for the last 15 years.
Converting it from a fallow farm field to a restored prairie has been the focus. Now that the prairie section is flourishing and requires less maintenance, they’re tackling the removal of reed canary grass in the wetland and invasive trees in the woodland areas. Every time they look out at the prairie, they are comforted by the idea of carbon being stored underground thanks to the native grasses and flowers flourishing.
Scott hopes to engage his neighbors in appreciating and restoring their properties with the help of the [email protected] sign, as well as connecting through Nextdoor, a neighborhood email group. Scott’s advice to those getting started, “Do it for your children and grandchildren. Be content with the journey without concern for the destination.”
