The bulldozers may be quiet now, but it is only a matter of time before the market for development will start up again, and McHenry County will become a prime target for new residents moving to and within the Chicago metro region.
After all, no part of the region has the abundant natural beauty and high quality of life that is found here. A land where agriculture still comprises the largest land use (50% of the land is still farmed). A place where glacial remnants like kettles and kames are an integral part of the landscape. An area where 200+ year old oaks are commonly seen along roadways, in farmyards and in ancient groves - large and small - throughout the community.
