Preserving the natural beauty of McHenry County since 1991!

What's at stake?

oak boloria plantingThe bulldozers may be quiet now, but it is only a matter of time before the market for development will start up again, and McHenry County will become a prime target for new residents moving to and within the Chicago metro region.

After all, no part of the region has the abundant natural beauty and high quality of life that is found here. A land where agriculture still comprises the largest land use (50% of the land is still farmed). A place where glacial remnants like kettles and kames are an integral part of the landscape. An area where 200+ year old oaks are commonly seen along roadways, in farmyards and in ancient groves - large and small - throughout the community.

Get Involved with TLC

There are a variety of ways to help TLC preserve the natural, scenic and agricultural lands that make McHenry County so attractive, and that provide such a high quality of life to its residents.

As a small organization, TLC relies upon the work of volunteers, the financial support of members, as well as the decisions that private property owners make to preserve their land.
