     HAPPY 2015!

What We Do

LookingatthelandMcHenry County has already lost too many acres of natural land to development...high-quality natural areas that can never be replaced, including oak woodlands, remnant prairies, farmland and critical water recharge areas.

Since 1991, TLC has helped landowners who wish to preserve their property understand the land protection options that are available.

We work with municipal leaders and land planners to incorporate sound environmental principles into their work, and partner with municipalities to restore and manage their natural areas.

TLC provides educational opportunities and training for landowners and volunteers to improve their land restoration skills.

Over 90% of the land in McHenry County is in private hands. The character of our community will be created by the decisions those individuals make for the land they own. TLC is here to provide good information and a greater diversity of preservation options for local residents.

Get Involved with TLC

There are a variety of ways to help TLC preserve the natural, scenic and agricultural lands that make McHenry County so attractive, and that provide such a high quality of life to its residents.

As a small organization, TLC relies upon the work of volunteers, the financial support of members, as well as the decisions that private property owners make to preserve their land.
