TLC's Annual Celebration
Come celebrate another exciting year of conservation in McHenry County--oaks planted, acorns gathered, buckthorn cut, land preserved, Art of the Land celebrated--all through the support of our members and hard work of many dedicated volunteers.
Our featured program this year will be Mark Hirsch, photographer of "That Tree" - an iPhone photo journal documenting the life of a lonely bur oak near his home in Platteville, Wisconsin.
Mark's story has been shared globally through NBC News, the Chicago Tribune, The Daily Mail (UK news), CBS News, the Sierra Club and many more.
This is a story that reveals how sometimes the most profound journey you can take is to look more closely at what is right in front of you - every day. It is also a story of how a closer relationship with the land can heal and build community.
