Land Conservancy Lands New Executive Director Lisa Haderlein, AICP, has been appointed executive director of The Land Conservancy of McHenry County. Previously, Ms. Haderlein served for five years with the The Nature Conservancy, Illinois Chapter, as a Director of Conservation Planning, then Director of Conservation Operations, and most recently as Northern Illinois Area Director. Prior to that, she worked nearly seven years for Peoria County Planning & Zoning in Peoria, Illinois, as a Land Use Planner, Senior Planner, and Director, with responsibilities, among other things, for developing comprehensive land use plans for the county. Ms. Haderlein is a cum laude graduate of Wellesley College, and has a master of science degree in natural resource planning from the University of Vermont. She is currently secretary/treasurer of the American Planning Association, Environment, Natural Resources and Energy Division, and is a member of American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). She and her husband Tom Cubr reside in Harvard, Illinois. The Land Conservancy of McHenry County is a 15-year old private not for profit organization dedicated to land conservancy and the preservation of the county's natural heritage by protecting undeveloped land that provides for open space needs. The Land Conservancy currently holds 12 conservation easements covering 151 acres. These protected areas enhance the scenic beauty of McHenry County, help preserve the agricultural heritage, and offer opportunities to observe and study nature while protecting habitat for our native plants and animals.
