Most Vulnerable Natural Areas Outreach

The Land Conservancy is launching an effort to reach out to private landowners at 25 high quality natural areas in McHenry County. These sites represent places that are not planned for acquisition by a government agency. If the Land Conservancy does not begin talking with the landowners, these gems could be lost forever.

The goals of the project are to

increase landowner awareness of the precious resources that they own
offer advice regarding management of these lands
recognize landowners through the Land Heritage Registry Program
encourage protection of these resources through conservation easements or Nature Preserve dedication.
These 25 sites were identified through consultation with the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the McHenry County Conservation District.
